Draw a design on paper. |

Copy the design onto the lacquerware. |

3. Jigaki
Draw a picture on the lacquered surface in lacquer with a brush. Apply
lacquer to the part where powder will be sprinkled. |

4. Fummaki (Scattering
Powder)
With the use of a special cylinder, gold, silver or colored powder
is scattered over the surface. |

5. Suri Urushi (Applying
Lacquer)
Apply the suri-lacquer for the whole surface. |

6. Migakiage (Polishing
Up)
Thoroughly polish the lacquered surface. |

7. Uwaekaki (Adding Drawing)
After the gold powder is dry, some lines are added in lacquer on
top of the picture. |

8. Fummaki (Scattering
Powder)
Gold powder is again sprinkled over the surface. |

9. Suri Urushi (Applying
Lacquer)
Suri-lacquer is again applied over the whole surface. |

Polishing)
The lacquered surface is thoroughly polished. |
