| Lacquerware artist. Mae Fumio was born in Wajima in 1940. In 1997, he
received the Hokkoku Cultural Award. In 1999, he was designated as a
holder of an Intangible Cultural Property (a living national treasure)
in Chinkin. He is the vice-chief of the Wajima Lacquer Technique
Training Center, the vice-secretary-general of the Japan Crafts
Association Ishikawa Chapter, and a director of Ishikawa Art Culture
