The year of permanent
gDezukurih begins with timber transportation in February.
They start preparation for slash-and-burn agriculture as soon
as snow melts, engage in silk raising and charcoal making in
summer, and make folk crafts in winter as side jobs. Seasonal
gDezukurih workers leave their village after snow melts in May
and come down from the mountain in November before the snow
comes.
In the gDezukurih life, most of the food and living utensils
are prepared by themselves except seasonings, rice and straws
that cannot be self-supplied in the mountains. This makes them
busy all year round. Saving food to pass the winter, shoveling
snow off roofs and other routine work is shared by adults and
children.
