This trail was originally built in a works project. As it is the shortest way to the mountain lodge, most climbers including beginners can take this route without difficulty. Kanko Shindo
Section Betto Deai through the mountain lodge
Distance 6.1km
Time 5 hrs for the ascent and 3 hrs for the descent
This trail runs almost parallel with the Sabo Shindo trail. The two trails join together at Kuroboko Rock. Walking the Kanko Shindo trail will bring you along the Echizen Zazen, a passage that was believed to be opened up back in the Heian Period (794 - 1192). It is rather steep and has no place for procuring drinking water so that it is mainly used as a descending route. On the way you can enjoy its spectacular view and fields of alpine flowers.
