This trail was originally built in a works project. As it is

beginners can take this route without difficulty. Climbers particularly
enjoy the Fudo waterfall, which runs off a sheer cliff, the
Bessan peak, and an elegant ridgeline likened to a giant Japanese
folding screen. |

This trail runs almost parallel with
the Sabo Shindo trail. The two trails
join together at Kuroboko Rock. Walking the Kanko Shindo trail
will bring you along the Echizen Zazen, a passage that was believed
to be opened up back in the Heian Period (794 - 1192). It is
rather steep and has no place for procuring drinking water so
that it is mainly used as a descending route. On the way you
can enjoy its spectacular view and fields of alpine flowers. |

This historical course is well-known as it constitutes one part
of the Mino Zen Teido trail. On the way, you will find a huge
rock named Tombi-iwa ("black kite rock"), from which
the name of this course was derived. This is the shortest course
connecting the mountain lodge and Minami Ryugababa but not so
many people seem to take this course. |

This is a popular road for descending from the mountain lodge,

view of the Northern Alps. The rising sun viewed from the ridge
is another spectacle. |
