(in Shiramine, November)
This is a traditional event to commemorate
the famous Buddhist disciple Shinran, who
was the founder of the Jodo-Shinshu sect
of Buddhism. In addition to the Buddhist
services held in the temples, each household
invites kith and kin to hold the service
and dine together at home. It is also an
important opportunity to deepen social ties
by chatting and drinking Japanese sake over
a meal together.
