It keeps a wide range of artwork Nakamura Soshun, the former president of Nakamura Sake
Manufactureing, had been collecting for a long time. The collection consists of tea ceremony
utensils for the most part, as well as of calligraphy, paintings, ceramics such as Ko-Kutani,
Kaga maki-e, and Kaga Inlay. The three pieces including the calligraphy work by Muso Soseki,
a monk in the end of the Kamakura period to the first of the Muromachi period, are designated
as national impoortant cultural properties.
It has a new building and an old building. The latter is "the old Nakamaura house" with a trace
of dignified town house in the beginning of the Showa period, which was moved here, open to the
public like "Ume-an," a tea ceremony house annex. Both are used for tea ceremonies. At
the rest room in the new building overlooking a beautiful garden, matcha (powdered tea)
is served for fee.
